There’s no secret that car manufacturer around the world decide to use the SEMA show to introduce high-performance concepts, so a brand new Tiguan equipped with performance, styling and audio upgrades shouldn’t amaze you. Similar to other carmakers, Volkswagen brought its own tuned model to SEMA (in fact, this is the second concept signed by VW, after CC Eco Concept), in a move clearly meant to underline the versatility of this popular VW vehicle.

First of all, the exterior now features a completely new body styling and fender flare kit, with enhanced spoilers and side steps and custom two-tone paint job. The engine is capable of providing way more power than the base model, with the 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder engine, helped by an APR Stage 3 Turbo Kit, developing a maximum power of 295 hp and a torque of 300 lb-ft. Other features include a new APR sport rear muffler, carbon-fiber cold air intake and Volkswagen’s 6-speed Tiptronic transmission.

However, Tiguan’s piece de resistance remains the custom audio system which, designed in partnership with Rockford Fosgate, develops 1400 watts “of legendary MOSFET power,” as Volkswagen said in a press statement. “Rockford’s, brand new for 2009, POWER T1000-1bd 1000 watt mono amplifier powers two P3D410 dual voice coil 500 watt PUNCH subwoofers,” it added.

The standard Volkswagen multimedia player and DVD-navigation system are still there but are now connected to 6.5- and 5.25-inch speakers on the front and on the rear doors respectively.

Since it was only a concept, there’s no chance of seeing such a beautiful Tiguan on the streets but, those of you who may travel to Las Vegas in the next few days, don’t forget to visit Volkswagen’s stand at SEMA.
