Hypercars can become an investment for some, and even those that have been driven can still fetch a premium over what they cost when new.
A rare Maserati is an excellent example of what one might consider an investment in the purchase of a used vehicle. We are talking about a Maserati MC12 Corsa, which has been converted for street use and tuned by Edo Competition. Sold by a dealer in Calgary, Canada, its asking price is just shy of $2 million, but “best offer” will do.

We are writing about a car that has been developed on the chassis of the Ferrari Enzo, and has been initially built to be a homologation special. After a limited series of road-going examples, out of which 50 were sold to customers, Maserati did offer a racing version of the MC12 for private teams, and they called it MC12 Corsa.

This vehicle used to be an MC12 Corsa, but it has been converted by Edo Competition to become a road-going model. Only 12 examples of the MC12 Corsa were ever sold, and some say that only one of them was converted for street use.

The example used to be blue, but this car is painted orange, and we would not exclude the possibility of this model being the first and only MC12 Corsa converted to street-legal specification. The seller does not mention this, though, so do not quote us on that.

The changes required by the transformation from racing model to a street car include fitting all of the parts needed to make a race car legal to drive on public roads, like regular headlights, turn signals, horn, and others. Similar conversions have been performed on its platform sibling, the Ferrari FXX.

The seller claims the vehicle has a clear U.S. title, and that it is in excellent condition. You can observe this from the pictures posted by the dealer. The odometer has slightly passed the 50,000 mark.

Unlike the standard MC12 Corsa, this Edo Competition version has a bored, stroked, and sleeved engine, custom forged pistons, and multiple custom components. Its redline exceeds 9,300 rpm, so it will probably scream its V12 heart out when the lucky new owner gives it full throttle.

The full list of upgrades is presented below, but we would also note a custom widebody from original templates, a custom Alcantara interior, carbon bucket seats, and forged centre-lock Edo Competition wheels. This listing sounds like a sweet deal to us.

Sebastian's love for cars began at a young age. Little did he know that a career would emerge from this passion (and that it would not, sadly, involve being a professional racecar driver). In over fourteen years, he got behind the wheel of several hundred vehicles and in the offices of the most important car publications in his homeland.
