SEMA is less than two months away now, and the onslaught of teased vehicle releases has begun. Scion is the latest automaker to reveal a sneak peek at its custom offerings, and it teamed up with metal band Slayer and skateboarder Riley Hawk to create special versions of the Scion tC coupe and Scion xB hatchback.
Both were revealed in sketches today, but the xB is surprisingly the cooler looking of the two showing that this aging hatchback still has plenty of potential. Imagined up by Riley Hawk – the 21-year-old son of skateboarding legend Tony Hawk – the Scion x Riley Hawk Skate Tour xB has a funky, 1970s-inspired look. Doing its best to look like a shrunken-down ‘70s-era conversion van, this xB matches that decade from the brown, orange, yellow and red striped paint scheme to the raised roof and the circular bubble windows. Scion promises an equally retro interior including shag carpet, wood paneling and, wait for it, an 8-track player.

Every element of this Scion xB represents some part of my life. I’m looking forward to showing it at SEMA and having people check it out,” said Riley.

Having been around since the early ‘80s, Slayer can probably relate to Hawk’s SEMA Scion, but the band chose to go a much different route with the appearance of the Scion x Slayer Mobile Amp tC. For starters, it will feature a slammed ride height along with a dark paint job and plenty of Slayer logos, but the interior is where this car will really rock. Scion says that this tC has been transformed into a mobile multimedia machine packed with amps, “towers of speakers,” a mixer and a gargantuan 32-inch monitor.

Slayer’s fans are going to be excited when we reveal what a metal-inspired Scion tC looks like “Working with Scion has given us another way to reach new audiences and inspire them to keep going down their own paths,” said Slayer guitarist Kerry King.

We’ll have to wait to see what both cars look in real life, but we don’t have much longer to go as this year’s SEMA Show kicks off on November 4th and lasts through the 7th.
