Tuned Ford Fiesta Develops 140 PS

Mountune Performance today announced an aftermarket package for the new Ford Fiesta which improves the exterior and interior styling as well as the performance of the 1.6-liter engine. The performance upgrades for the new Fiesta 1.6-liter petrol-engined models can be found at a selected number of Ford dealerships and will be sold for 1,299 pounds, including fitting.

The Mountune Performance Upgrade is compatible with the new-look Fiesta Zetec-S and Titanium models and includes a high-glow air induction system, a high-performance exhaust with high-flow catalyst and tubular manifold plus several modifications regarding the 1.6-litre Duratec Ti-VCT engine.

In case you were wondering, the upgraded engine provides 20 percent more power than the base unit: 140PS at 6,750rpm and 170NM of torque at 4,250rpm, compared to 120PS and 152NM for the standard engine. Obviously, the 0-60 mph sprint is also reduced to 7.9 seconds, compared to the standard engine's 9.9 seconds.

"The new dealer-fit Fiesta performance kit follows similar Mountune Performance Upgrades for the popular Focus ST and Fiesta ST models which were made available from the beginning of 2008," Ford said in a statement for the press. "All kits are fully approved by Ford and have been tested and verified on a wide range of British roads as well as numerous laps of the famous Nürburgring circuit in Germany."

The upgrade package is designed in association with Ford Team RS and will be only available through a selected number of dealerships across the United Kingdom starting March 2009. Each performance package comes with a 12 months/12,000 miles dealer warranty. The original vehicle warranty isn't affected by these modifications.
