Despite sharing the Mopar identity and the generous displacement, the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR and the 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat are extremely different. While the first was built for lap times (we'll return to that below), the second is all about muscle, having no regard for weight.
Even so, seeing these two engaging in a drag race is extremely satisfying, which is why we're sharing the video below with you. The piece of footage shows the two duking it out on an empty airfield runway, so all the drivers have to worry about is keeping the throttle mashed.

We're dealing with a half-mile shenanigan here, with the pair of Dodges using a rather mild start. We don't want to throw spoilers your way, so we won't disclose the trap speed numbers of the cars. However, we can tell you the two were interestingly close when crossing the finish line.

Perhaps we should mention the fact that, while the ACR is stock, the Hellcat seen here is gifted with bolt-ons. The driver didn't mention the exact mods, though.

And while the blown 6.2-liter Hemi machine is the kind of unapologetic proposal that doesn't need any explanations, we feel the need to remind you the Viper ACR is a demon at the track. In fact, the snake aced no less than 13 circuit records last year, with one of its most appealing achievements being the fact that it dominated both the McLaren P1 and the Porsche 918 Spyder on Laguna Seca (those of you willing to dig deeper into the topic can do that by following this link).

Returning to the battle you can see here, these two slabs of America also manage to generate a delicious soundtrack, which only comes to add to the cool factor of their fight. Hit the "play" button below and you'll understand.
