Say what you want about BMW’s current M6 but the truth of the matter is, the potential of the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 under its bonnet is unbelievably high. That being said, no matter how bad the car might be in tight corners, it will always show its potential on drag strips.
And yes, we do know that it has a weight issue, even BMW knows that but that makes the plant even more impressive. Rear-wheel drive, a lot of extra weight and yet that V8 still manages to shame a lot of other cars on the strip.

Case and point this M6 whose potential was exploited to the max by tuner PP-Performance that gave it an RS800 kit that took the output of the engine up to around 800 HP. Yes, you read that right: 800 HP!

Well, to be completely fair, the output is closer to 778 HP while the torque is rated at 875 Nm (645 lb-ft) of torque. According to PP-Performance, despite its rear-wheel drive, the tuned M6 should be able to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds.

All that extra performance doesn’t come cheap though. According to the tuner’s website you’ll need to spend €15,500 for it and you’ll be getting a package comprised of a chip tune, new turbocharger, racing air filter, catless pipes, and exhaust system.

The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, on the other hand, is completely stock. It has to rely on the ‘standard’ 740 HP of the 6.2-liter V12 under its bonnet and the adjacent 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) of torque that comes with it.

The weight difference between the two favors the Italian by around 200 kilos and that can be easily seen in the way the race unfolded. It’s all extremely tight to begin with.

Other cars that wanted a shot at taking down the might of the M6 include an Audi S6 for some reason (admittedly, the Audi did start a lot better thanks to its quattro all-wheel drive system) and a BMW M4 tuned to 550 HP. Let’s see how they did.
