Tuned BMW F10 M5 Takes on 690 HP Audi RS6 Avant

We’ve seen the following BMW M5 take down cars that cost more than twice as much and yet we couldn’t figure out how that was possible since the videos always said that it was stock. Well, now we know as the owner finally unveiled what he added to the car.

And indeed, you couldn’t really tell what was changed because all of them were rather stealthy, to say the least. Under the bonnet, the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 received a complete Schmiedmann treatment. That means that the original muffler, cross pipes, and cats have been removed and replaced with the custom exhaust maker’s own parts.

On top of that, we are now looking at a car that also received a Dinan carbon fiber intake and a Burger Motorsports Stage 1 tune. That means that the M5 now makes around 600 HP and 550 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque, if it runs on pump fuel. Get some race fuel in the mix and you’re looking at some more, closer to 650 HP.

That is still less than what the Audi it’s going up against claims to have. In stock guise, the Ingolstadt-based company fitted the RS6 Avant with a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 good for 560 HP. However, the car in the video supposedly has 690 HP and we’re guessing it’s thanks to some stage 2 upgrade, even though there’s no mention of that.

Conveniently, the guys from GT Board always ‘forget’ to mention either the tunes on the BMWs drag racing or the complete specs of their rivals on the track.

Either way, this makes for an exciting drag race, especially since it’s from a rolling start. Otherwise, the quattro all-wheel drive system of the Audi would’ve won it the race, hands down.
