Ah, the beauty of racing a tuned rival - the Dodge Challenger Hellcat driver in the video below took a gamble when he lined up next to the 2015 Ford Mustang GT at the drag strip, since the pony had been taken down the tuning route.
How much of a gamble? Well, in such cases, words, and sometimes even dyno results, aren't enough to make things clear. In the end, only the real world battles can decide.

While we usually skip the part including the numbers to let the footage do its job, this is one of the exceptions. The 'Stang completed the quarter mile run in 11.31 seconds at 129 mph, while the Mopar machine required 12.36s for the same job, completing the task at 125 mph.

In theory, this shouldn't have happened. According to the official numbers, which the Hellcat has proven correct on tons of occasions, the factory-blown Challenger can play the 1,320 feet game in 11.2 seconds at 125 mph, providing that the stock rubber is used.

Heck, such a time would've allowed the SRT Dodge to one-up this Ford Mustang, but the difference comes from factors such as the drag strip conditions (for instance, some surfaces are better prepped than others) or the driver's reaction time.

Unfortunately, we're not aware of the exact mods fitted to the Coyote V8 under the hood of the Ford, although we can hear a supercharger whine coming from its vicinity at one point in the video. Nevertheless, we have to explain this engine has two faces. In stock trim, the Mustang GT can be a bit dissapointing, but the unit has plenty of tuning potential. In other words, it won't take a monumental effort to take a 5.0 to the level of performance displayed in this drag race.

P.S.: Given the appearance of this Mustang, which doesn't give away the extra muscle of the machine, we can label the Blue Oval machine as a sleeper.
