Sad, sad news for the Commander in Chief, as it would appear there will be no parade in Washington this year, when the world celebrates the centennial of World War I.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Department of Defense (DoD) said that the parade initially scheduled to take place on November 10 has been postponed to an undecided date next year, without giving any reason for the decision.

The good news for the President is that he might get his tanks on the capital city’s streets after all. At first, those in charge with planning the parade said the use of tanks could damage the city’s infrastructure.

After some careful investigation, Pentagon and city officials came to the conclusion that the Abrams tanks are in fact urban-friendly, due to their distributed weight and wide tracks. So yes, there will be tanks in the parade.

According to early reports by the DoD, the military parade asked for by Donald Trump was to cost anywhere between $12 million and $30 million. As per CNBC however, a White House official said the sum is much bigger, around $90 million, which will be split between the DoD and other agencies taking part.

The millions are to pay for anything from transportation of troops and machines to security for participants.

Donald Trump wants his parade to rival that of the French, so expect to see everything from tanks to helicopters and fighter jets. The French have always wowed the world with the glamour of technology and troops despite their not-so-great military achievements of past conflicts.

Historically, the United States doesn't have a federal government-sanctioned military parade. The might of the U.S. military is usually shown in theaters of war, and not on the capital's streets.

When he announced his plans earlier this year, America's 45th president was compared to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un or the ruler of some “banana republic.
