Now that the Toyobaru project has lost its novelty factor, it has become more obvious than ever that the Subaru BRZ, Toyota GT 86 and Scion FR-S aren’t quite as affordable as they should be. We do not expect the three carmaker to come up with a solution for this too soon, so we’ve found one of our own - a Subaru BRZ scale model.
Coming from German scale model producer AutoArt, this is a 1:18 scale BRZ, which comes in the proper apparel, wearing Subaru’s famous Blue Micra. As you can see in the adjacent images, there are plenty of details that enchant here.
Of course, the main attraction lies under the bonnet, where Subaru;s flat four receives a respectable plastic interpretation. For one thing, you can truly see the low position of the unit within the chassis. At the other end, we find a luggage compartment that comes with the right materials. Perhaps you could hide the key to your actual car in here.
On a quality... scale, AutoArt’s Subaru BRZ sits somewhere in the middle. In other words, while this find itself above what one would call “toys”, it is not exactly your collectable item. Just put this on your desk and enjoy.
