Trulli: Winning This Season Is a Must

It has been more than 4 years since Jarno Trulli's last win in Formula One (at Monte Carlo). However, the Italian reckons that he cannot end another winless season inside the Great Circle, as the pressure from Japanese manufacturer Toyota is close to reaching its boiling point. In a time when everybody is trying to maximize their investments in the sport of racing, big-spenders like Toyota have only one thing on their mind: winning (for a change).

“Toyota's message has been very clear: we carry on with F1, however we all have a great responsibility to try to bring home the maiden victory, which could be decisive for the future. That (the circuit) is not important, what counts is for it to happen in the first six races,” Trulli was quoted as saying to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Ever since they decided to enter in F1, back in 2002, Toyota have failed to secure at least one race win in the series. The team's highest performances came in 2005 when the Japanese manufacturer scored 5 podiums in the season and finished just behind Ferrari in 4th place.

Last year, Toyota made 2 podium appearances through Trulli (3rd place in France) and newcomer Timo Glock (2nd place in Hungary) but lost the fight for 4th place overall in the closing stages of the season to Renault.

In an effort to further reduce costs for the new season, the Toyota officials have decided to cancel their official launch of the TF109 car. Instead of the classical press conference, Toyota will unveil photos of the new machinery on the team's official website.
