Trulli Caught Fever in Singapore, Not Feeling Well in Japan

Formula One veteran Jarno Trulli is not experiencing his best of physical condition this week, as the Italian driver seems to have caught a fever following last weekend's Singapore Grand Prix. Heading to Toyota's very home race at Suzuka this weekend, Trulli was the only member of the Japanese organization not to take part in the Toyota media event in Tokyo.

Later on, the Japanese officials revealed to the media that Trulli caught a fever in Singapore and is still recovering for the Suzuka weekend. However, they revealed there is no doubt that the 35-year old veteran will make it into the TF109 cockpit by Friday this week, when the first practice session at the Japanese circuit is scheduled.

"We wanted him to take it easy," said Tadashi Yamashina on Monday, while revealing that Trulli will be as good as new on Wednesday, when scheduled to appear in another media event in Nagoya.

Following their impressive weekend in Singapore, Toyota will be targeting another great outing in Japan, especially since the Suzuka circuit was aimed from the very beginning of the 2009 season to be the place where the team will score their first win in Formula One.

“This year we should be competitive and we hope to be very strong so I hope to race well in our home Grand Prix. We are strong enough to be in the top six and we should be aiming to get near the podium. I hope to give the Japanese fans a good show and a result they can enjoy,” said Trulli in a media preview of the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend.

The Italian driver will be looking to score his first point in the series in the last 5 races, as his last point-scoring finish happened in the Hungarian Grand Prix (8th place).
