The fans of Troy Bayliss and flat track racing will rejoice at the news that the Australian rider is returning to the AMA Pro Grand National Series. Baylisstic21 has confirmed his presence at the Springfield Mile II event in early September this year.
He will attend the race at the Illinois State Fairgrounds with the same Team Lloyd and will be at the helm of the Ducati Scrambler machine. It's been quite a busy year for the three-time World Superbike Champion, as he not only entered the most important North America flat-track championship, but also made a thrilling return to the tarmac circuit.

Bayliss also substituted for Aruba.it Ducati rider Davide Giugliano in two World Superbike rounds, Phillip Island in native Oz and at the new Chang circuit in Thailand. Even though Bayliss enjoyed his time aboard the Ducati Panigale, he said that four races were more than enough for him, as he didn't have any serious intentions to make a WSBK comeback.

Instead, Bayliss, 46, offered his full help to both Ducati and the AMA in the latter's efforts to revive the racing scene in the United States. Ducati also agreed to supply bikes for the event, hoping that the huge popularity of the all-new Scrambler would also cast a good light on the flat-track racing events in the US.

Even more, AMA's efforts were rewarded with the inclusion of a flat-track event in this year's X Games in Austin, TX, and Ducati was thus introduced in the mix, alongside Harley-Davidson.

Baylisstic21 suffered a crash in the Sacramento flat-track race in late May, and was flown to Australia quickly, where he had surgery. It looks like the Australian rider is stronger than we anticipated, as he's back in the saddle after three months and racing.

Hopefully, he'll also stay clear from other injuries. He may be a guy tougher than most of the rest, but he's also drawing nearer to an age when broken bones start to heal slower. Godspeed, Baylisstic21!
