TRON Segway i2 Personal Transporter Presented

The TRON-fever is far from being over, with more and more fans of the 80s’ sequel creating all sorts of items inspired by Disney’s 3D movie. TRON: Legacy has gained notoriety faster than you can say “blockbuster”. If most fans dream of having their own LightCycle - which is close to impossible if they weren’t among the few to get one from Parker Brothers - one of them decided to make his own Tron-inspired ride: the custom Segway i2 PT.

“Yes, I realize that by customizing my Segway in the style of Tron I have managed to add even more nerdiness to an already ultra-nerdy mode of transportation. But I think it’s pretty darn awesome,” its creator, Ricky Brigante, says.

“Wouldn’t this thing look great gliding through ElecTRONica at the Disney California Adventure theme park? (Too bad Disney doesn’t allow guests to bring Segways into the parks. And I live in Florida, not California…),” he insists.

But let’s see how Brigante managed to transform a regular Segway into a LightCycle wannabe. According to InsideTheMagic, he only needed one roll of white 2" wide 3M reflective safety tape, one Target-brand battery-powered strand of blue LED Christmas lights, scissors, electrical tape and, of course, the Segway i2 PT.

Add some Photoshop magic to the recipe and there you have it. Brigante says the reflective tape looks plain white under normal ambient light, but when hit directly by a light beam, it reflects brightly back.

And why settle at just taking pictures of this thing, when you can also create a Tron-like video of it? You can watch the video in question below this article.

“And yeah, I had to make a Tron-like video too, complete with fake monitor scan lines and a wash of blue light. Go ahead, call me a nerd. I’ll wait,”
