Here’s something we weren’t expecting to hear - the most hated and loved BMW designer ever, Chris Bangle, is to get a lifetime achievement award for his career in the automotive industry, which spans 28 years.
He’s the man responsible for stuff like the aggressive-looking E65 7-Series and E60 5-Series, but also the previous generation of Z4 roadster. He was also involved with the new MINI an the Rolls Royce Ghost and Phantom.

Whether his work made BMWs better or worse, the... Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology has pledged to present Bangle with its 2012 Lifetime Design Achievement Award during its Eyes On Design week in June 2012.

Bangle was also involved with the Opel Junior concept back in the day, plus he was the chief designer for the Fiat Coupe, so he can’t be all bad, can he?!

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
