Triumph may have a really neat surprise in store for us, the latest rumors in the British motorcycle industry indicate. Reportedly, Hinckley is working on a semi-faired version of the Street Triple and plans to add it as the fourth member of the family.
The news arrives from what is referred to as an "inside source" in Hinckley, but in the absence of an official position from Triumph, we're still taking this with a grain of salt. Even so, adding such a bike to the line-up should not be too much trouble.

Triumph is updating its Street Triple platform and the changes to be made to the bike to transform it into a Yamaha Tracer-like machine are not hard to implement. Iwata showed that such an approach is not only feasible profitable but also welcomed by customers.

Designing bodywork panels to add protection from the wind and throwing in a pair of hand protectors, a slightly revised position and choosing a touring-focused suspension might just do, with minimal efforts.

The new Street Triple platform received extra ccs that bring the engine in the 765-800cc range, and Triumph will also use different mapping to diversify the response of the power plant. The entry-point Street Triple will produce around 110 horsepower, while the top-spec RS is said to deliver 125 hp.

Apparently, the RT will also be equipped with an engine tuned to produce 125 hp, which is quite nice for a middleweight motorcycle. If the Triumph Street Triple RT will be anything like the Yamaha MT-09 Tracer, we might be looking at a bike that will sell very well.

The RT machine is said to come with tire pressure monitoring and touring-oriented accessories to make the machine more suitable for longer trips. An announcement is expected this summer, and if the price is right, we might see customers starting to become seriously interested in Triumph and consider it as one of the top options in this segment.
