The introduction of the Bonneville Bobber Black edition wasn’t enough of a surprise, so Triumph announced the release of yet a new addition to the retro range - welcome the updated 2018 Bonneville Speedmaster.
Stylistic wise, the new Speedmaster sports a sculpted Bonneville tank, machined engine fins, carburetor-style twin throttle bodies, a clean-line header pipe run, finned exhaust clamps, and rubber fork gaiters.

The signature features of the Bonneville Bobber and elegant hard tail look have also been incorporated, including the minimal bodywork, single clock, classic rear ‘drum brake’ inspired hub, heritage-inspired battery box, and central mudguard ridges.

Differentiating it from the rest of the pack are things like the classic nacelle headlight detailing, swept back beach bars, forward mounted pegs, fixed rear mudguard, and 16-inch wire spoke rims. A larger 12-liter fuel tank is supposed to offer more range while the single seat can be easily swapped for a two-up setup in no time.

And just as the new Bobber Black, the Speedmaster comes with 310mm twin disc front brakes with two twin-piston Brembo calipers and a 255mm single disc rear brake with single-piston Nissin caliper. The front also gets a 41mm cartridge fork while the rear sports a hidden monoshock RSU with linkage to offer the bike a hardtail look.

The engineers haven’t forgotten about power, so the new model uses the same 1200cc High Torque parallel-twin engine of the Bobber, offering 42 percent more torque and 10 percent more power than the 2015 Speedmaster, cranking 106 Nm at 4,000 rpm and 77 horsepower.

Speaking about the engine, another distinctive element of the Speedmaster is its exhaust note, which has evolved from the Bonneville T120 but adds an even deeper and richer sound. The bright chromed stainless steel exhaust is twin skinned for a seamless hidden cat box run and finished with unique bright chrome silencers. It also has a twin air box with twin filter design, packaged for optimized volume.

Standard features include full-LED lights, single-button cruise control, ride-by-wire throttle, two riding modes, ABS, switchable traction control, torque assist clutch, and an integrated immobilizer. Of course, the list of features can be further expanded with the help of over 130 custom accessories and parts offered by Triumph.

The new 2018 Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster will reach dealerships in three colors: Jet Black, Cranberry Red, Fusion White and Phantom Black with a hand-painted coach line.
