Volkswagen may be knee-deep in a major emissions scandal due to its diesel engines, but that hasn't stopped everybody else from enjoying their Cummins mills.
In fact, a new 5.0-liter V8 diesel has just been shown at the Nissan stand at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Defeat device or not, a big V8 truck is always going to pollute more than a Jetta that gets over 40 mpg easily.

You see, pickups aren't classed as cars, they're classed as trucks. So even though most are used by regular folks to do regular shopping, their emissions are in a different category than your average TDI.

What does this have to do with anything? Well, we're looking at a black, cancer-inducing Chevy C10 badass.

Built purely for speed, this pro street C10 pickup has power people could only dream about in 1969. Its Duramax engine has got a triple-turbo setup that would put even the BMW X5 M50d to shame.

The amazing machine belongs to a guy named Brett, who got the C10 from his grandfather when he was 15. That was 16 years ago, and the truck still has the same paint job on it.

After that, the guy spent a decade putting all sorts of gasoline engines in it, before stuffing a diesel engine from a Workhorse bus that "died" in 2009. That was the start of a love affair with the wrong kind of fuel.

Nothing is stock under what used to be the hood. The engine has Wagler Competition cylinder heads, Bullseye Power turbochargers, Danville Performance motor, and a Rossler 400 transmission with a Neal Chance Racing Converters torque converter. The tri-turbo C10 went out on multiple occasions, and this time around it delivered an 8.55-second quarter mile time at 161.67 mph.

She's a beauty too. The pipes or the turbos are all shiny and chrome, while the exhaust is exited straight from the motor through two pipes that are wrapped in heat-resistant fabric. The best part about this truck is that the owner still drives it on the street and it even has A/C.
