Trike Drifting in the Snow Looks like a Lot of Crazy Fun

Trike drifting is gaining a lot of traction (I know, this sounds a bit off) lately, and some guys are willing to take the whole thing to the next level, even if this also includes a good dose of risk. Drifting such a trike down a snowy mountain slope may sound like taking a shortcut to the ER, but Devin Supertramp makes everything look easy.

He took three drift trikes to the slopes of Powder Mountain in Utah, and experimented how they'd fare on the hard packed snow. It was surprising to see how well these trikes behave on this uncanny surface, even though the chances that they flip when attempting 360-degree turns are way high.

At least the speed is not too high, and the snow breaks the fall, making such a ride look far less dangerous than it sounds. Still, sprained wrists and similar injuries are not exactly strange results if you plan to mix summer fun with winter sports.

It's hard to speak about the rules of this uncanny but fun preoccupation, but some considerations must be taken into account if you plan to drift a trike on a snowy slope.

First of all, you need a fairly hard snow surface, to prevent the trike's wheels from digging in. At the same time, riding on ice can result in total loss of steering or brake control, with a potentially ill-fated outcome.

Next comes the fact that you most likely need a special approval if you take the trike to a ski slope, and finally, some protection. Snowboard boots and a helmet should be standard, preventing ankle injuries and concussions.

Anyone betting for this becoming a real sport?
