That’s one way to celebrate a good business year, even if we still have many months to go in 2019: rapper Travis Scott is treating himself to a rare, limited-edition luxury SUV.
If you buy something nice and don’t post about it on social media, it’s almost as if you never bought it. As is customary with celebrities these days, Scott took to Instagram to show off his new ride, but he does get some credit for keeping it classy and not outright bragging about it.
The car in question is a 2018 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet, of which 99 units were only ever made. The price tag on the luxury SUV, described by Mercedes-Benz as “the most exclusive form of stylish open-top motoring,” is of $1.6 million and, for it, you get a fully loaded ride.
Scott got his in white but had it custom-wrapped, celebrity publication TMZ says. They even have a photo of the car before the wrap job, while a partial look at the after is available on Scott’s Instagram. You can see his post at the bottom of the page. Scott is striking a couple of moody poses next to the G650 Landaulet and his Louis Vuitton backpack, and there’s also a snap from inside. Sadly, it doesn’t reveal much of the interior.
“Travis bought the G through Specialty Car Collection in L.A. a couple weeks ago after it purchased the ride from well-known car collector Obi Okeke, AKA ‘Doctor Bugatti.’ We're told it was loaded in Austin and shipped to Scott in Houston,” TMZ notes.
Of course, Scott’s garage houses several other expensive and outstanding cars. He’s not a car collector per se, but he does like his rides to be fast or otherwise out of the ordinary. Based on his IG posts and media reports, he also owns a Ferrari 488, a Lamborghini Aventador, and a Lamborghini Huracan, all of them customized according to his preferences.
