If you own a battered 2000-2004 Volkswagen Jetta and you would like to change it for something else, why not get this kit and transform it into an open-top roadster for about $9,000?
The idea sounds crazy, but if you have lots of spare time and you are really good with the spanners, you can do it in your garage as a fun project.
Massachusetts based kit-car supplier introduced its new Smyth G3F transformation package to turn your front-wheel drive Jetta into an open top, mid-engined rear-wheel drive sportscar for only $9,900 (€7,600).
The kit includes everything you need for the transformation, including body panels, front and rear sub-frames, the top and very detailed instructions. Although the new car will be heavily chopped, it will still be a safe car to drive, as the project will let the original crumple zones intact, along with certain elements that makes the car rigid.
