Tracy Morgan’s First Post Crash Interview: The Pain Is Always Going to Be There

Comedian Tracy Morgan has for the first time spoken about the fiery crash that happened one year ago in an emotional interview he did with NBC's Today Show. Even though both Morgan and James “Jimmy Mack” McNair’s family have settled a deal with Wal-Mart, Morgan says he will never heal from the great loss of his close friend.

What should have been a happy stand-up comedy tour around the U.S. ended tragically last year, in June, when a Wal-Mart truck crashed into the back of Morgan’s limo.

The accident left most of the passengers injured in hospital, including the comedian who spend several weeks under medical care and is still recovering today. What is worse, Tracy’s long time friend and mentor James “Jimmy Mack” McNair passed away shortly after the accident that occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike.

“I’m happy that Wal-Mart stepped up to the plate in a tremendous way, and they took full responsibility. I’m happy they looked out for Jimmy Mack’s family,” the 30 Rock star said on NBC’s Today Show.

Morgan’s family and close friends apparently helped him keep the spirits up, but the actor admits that the loss of his close friend was tough to bare with. Morgan was in a coma when it happened, and he explained he did not learn of McNair’s death until he emerged from it. He later found footage of his fellow comedian’s funeral online and “lost it for about a week.”

As to his comedy career, the actor said he will never stop doing what he likes most: "I love comedy. I'll never stop loving her. And I can't wait to get back to her, but right now, my goal is just to heal and get better."
