Track Tuning Ideas: BMW E92 M3

If you love the S65 4-liter V8 engine in the previous generation BMW M3 then you have your reasons to. Some of them might include the razor sharp response of the gas pedal whenever you touch it with the tip of your toes. That will come in handy especially on a track.

That’s why a lot of people have been tuning such Bimmers to go to various events with them. Sure, the new M3/M4 duo is also a great proposition for time attacks, but it just seems wrong to strip down and modify these brand new cars.

Therefore, you’re left with older models but you should know that in order to make them decent on the track, some heavy modifications are a must. Therefore, allow us to show you one such proposition that you might consider when you’re working on your own M3 Track Build.

The guys from European Auto Source just had one of them in their shop and listed the configuration it had. Let’s have a looksie!

The cabin

Almost everything inside was changed to make sure this thing is both track ready and drivable on the street. In this regard, the standard seats were taken out and replaced with Status Icon Race seats with Sabelt racing harnesses.

A new M Performance Alcantara steering wheel was also included alongside a rear-seat delete and, of course, a GMG roll cage that you simply can’t miss.

The aerodynamics

This is where most of the work went to. Up front there’s a new APR Performance front under splitter installed alongside a new carbon fiber front lip, new side skirts, canards, System 1 undertray diffuser for the back and a Varis wing.

It should be pointed out that the wing is sitting atop a Vorsteiner carbon fiber trunk and that the side mirror covers are also made of carbon fiber to lighten the load.

The suspension and brakes

Next up, you have to look at the suspension setup that keeps you on the road. For this car a set of JRZ RS Pro coilovers was chosen alongside a set of Brembo GT big brake set and some new Volk TE37SL wheels.

We’ll also mention the Akrapovic GT4 titanium exhaust here even though it doesn’t have anything to do with the suspension. We just couldn’t leave it out!
