The previous-generation model is no match for the C7, but the folks over at The Fast Lane Car thought the seventh-gen sportscar needs to face a new challenge.

And we’re not talking about a comparison with the new Porsche 911. The new sportscar was pitted against race prepped sixth-generation Corvette at the High Plains Raceway outside Denver.

The latter vehicle, owned by professional driver Mike Pettiford, features several racing parts, including headers and a Penske adjustable suspension, while the former is factory stock except for a set of lighter wheels wrapped in slick tires.

Will the 2014 Corvette keep up with Pettiford’s race car? Scroll below for the videos to find out.
