The days when East Germany gave the less fortunate part of the world the Trabant are now gone. However, the two-stroke communist creation still has its fans and we’re here to show you what these people can do for their automotive nostalgia.
We’re talking about the Trabant RS, a creation that comes from Bulgarian tuner Kokonja. Before we start talking about the car, we have to explain that the Enligh transaltion for “Kokonja” is “How many horsepower?”.

The Trabant RS follows this hint, as it uses a Fiat Coupe engine that delivers 220 HP. That’s basically ten times the muscle of the original Trabant. Kokonja doesn’t mention the weight of the car, but a stock Trabant weighs about 600 kg (1,322 lbs).

Apart from the impressive power-to-weight ratio, the Trabant RS also features tons of other tech mods, including a reworked suspension and Brembo stopping hardware.

While the exterior of the Trabant RS has various tweaks, the cabin was thoroughly transformed using materials such as leather or Alcantara.
