Toyota Supra Patent Application
Well, it looks like the new Supra successor may use the same name after all. A trademark application has been filed by Toyota recently.
According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Toyota filed a trademark application for the “Supra” nameplate on 10th of February 2014 under the “Automobiles and structural parts thereof” category.

This means that the “Mirai” nameplate for the Toyota FT-1’s spawn can’t be considered anymore. Which means that this is how the small sportscar the automaker is building with BMW might be named.

Drawing design cues from the FT-1 concept, the future production Supra might be launched in 2016 coming with a 2-liter turbo four-cylinder entry level engine and a 2.5-liter turbo V6 aided by electricity to make over 400 hp.
