Toyota Working on RWD Hatchback Model

It seems that Toyota's promise that it will become a 'fun' brand once again isn't just for show. According to a report from Motor Trend, the Big T is preparing a brand new model for us to enjoy.

Supposedly, it's a rear-wheel drive hatchback model that will be marketed below the existing GT 86. So a Scion in America?

We don't know quite yet, but the same report suggests the car will be a remained version of the Rush crossover, the one shown in the picture above, but it will have independent suspension on all corners and a lower ride height.

Power will reportedly come from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 150 HP (hopefully turbocharged). Expect the debut of this new Rush o take place in 2016.

Since it's going to be even cheaper than a Scion FR-S at about $20,000, the RWD hatch will definitely appeal to younger keen drivers who at this moment don't have access to such cars.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
