Toyota Will Recall Another 250 Models in Two Batches

Uh-oh, more problems for Toyota owners as the Japanese carmaker will conduct a safety recall that will affect around 230 2015 Yaris models and 20 2015 Tacoma TRD Pro pickup trucks. Anyway, this does not seem as bad as the latest recall problems involving the faulty Takata airbag inflators.

According to Toyota, the first recall campaign will target 230 units of the 2015 Yaris. Japanese officials went on and explained that in the affected models, the rear axle bearing bolts might not be tight enough.

This is quite an important issue, because if a bolt came loose and fell off while the vehicles is moving, rear brakes could be severely damaged and the wheels could also get locked up, increasing the unwanted risk of a crash.

Regarding the other 20 Tacomas TRD Pro pickup trucks, Toyota found out that these units were delivered to dealers in Puerto Rico without the correct B-pillar tire placard indicating the tire size and recommended cold tire inflation pressure for the front and rear tires.

Although this might not sound as serious as the Yaris-related issue, it is still a big thing as an improperly inflated tire may increase the risk of a crash. Luckily, Toyota mentioned that so far, it “is not aware of any crashes, injuries, or fatalities caused by either condition.

Owners will be given the bad news by first class mail, most likely starting from March, according to Autoblog. As usual, Toyota will take care of the problems and repair the recalled vehicles without charging extra fees.
