It seems Glock was informed about Toyota's choice by the team's very president John Howett. Later on, a spokesman for the Cologned based outfit confirmed the media reports, but made one thing clear: this will not be interpreted as Toyota firing Glock, but as either of the two parties looking for new options for the upcoming season.
While some of us believe those two interpretations are basically the same thing, the Japanese manufacturer seems to think otherwise. In addition, the spokesman said that the door is not closed for a potential extension of Glock's contract, in case neither will find a better arrangement for next season.
“Now I have to look around. I have several possibilities and I am very confident. Let's see what happens this week,” said Glock after hearing the news.
Despite the constant denying that they're planning of leaving Formula One, Toyota's latest actions prove otherwise. There's still no word on Jarno Trulli's contract, while Glock is already one step out of Cologne. In addition, Toyota is the only team which seems to be left aside by the media when referring to 2010 deals. No driver has been currently linked with a move to Cologne, which does nothing but further fuel the rumors of Toyota withdrawing from the sport at the end of the year.
