At the latest national dealer meeting in Atlanta, Toyota’s vice president Bob Carter told dealers that he expects Toyota and Scion to sell more than 2 million units this year and including Lexus, they should sell over 2.25 million.

"The market is starting to recover in the same pattern we projected," Carter said in a phone interview. "It just started about six months before we thought. I think the market's there and we're seeing the traffic."

The sales numbers started from 2.08 million in 2012, expecting 2.15 million just a while ago, while in April, the manufacturer expected 2.2 million sold units. The higher expectations were generated due to the upcoming launch of the redesigned Toyota Corolla and Tundra models.
