It’s like Toyota played one of those games where you make two columns of words, and then you pair two from each side randomly and, hopefully, get hilarious results. Apparently, they drew “limousine” from the left column and “pickup” from the right one, and that’s how the Toyota Tundrasine came to life.
It doesn’t make any sense, really, but then again, that’s precisely why you get to see it launch at SEMA, and not at some fancy motor show like NAIAS, L.A., Frankfurt or Geneva. The concepts of luxury and pickup are like magnets facing each other with the same poles, like water and oil or like Republicans and De... no, let’s not go there.

The Toyota Tundrasine started life as a Tundra 1794 Edition 4x4 CrewMax pickup, equipped with a 5.7-liter V8 engine. That didn’t last for long, though, as some angle grinders kicked in, some metal was chopped off, other pieces of metal were welded in and, one thunderstorm later, the Tundrasine was aliiiveee, aliiiiveeee!

It measures over 26 feet (7.9 meters) in length and has a wheelbase of 235.9 inches (six meters). Which means interior space is not a problem. What might pose a problem is navigating some of the narrower streets that exist in this world, but the Tundrasine will deal with that problem once it presents itself in real life, probably.

The luxurious interior with its brown leather and details inspired by the cockpits and passenger compartments of private jets is revealed through the eight doors of the Tundrasine, while the exterior is painted in Midnight Black Metallic.

SEMA members take their vehicles to extremes, and Toyota definitely goes to a new extreme with the Tundrasine. It stretches beyond what is normally expected of a stock Tundra,” said Steve Appelbaum, National Engagement Marketing Manager, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. “SEMA is the perfect event to debut this concept vehicle that takes the best of Tundra and turns it into the pinnacle in executive transport . . . limo style.

Just like the Toyota Tonka4Runner, the Tundrasine can be seen until November 6 at the company’s SEMA booth (#24700) in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
