The Toyota FJ Cruiser compact SUV will be dropped from the Japanese automaker’s lineup after the 2014 model year.
Despite earlier reports claiming the company won’t give up on body-on-frame vehicles too soon, it looks like Toyota is getting ready to discard the FJ Cruiser from its lineup after the 2014 model year iteration, which will remain available to order only until June 10, 2014.
Powered by a 4.0-liter V6 engine connected to either a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission the current Toyota FJ Cruiser can be had starting from $27,030 in the United States. The modern FJ Cruiser, which is assembled in Japan, was introduced in 2006 as a successor to the FJ40 Land Cruiser, which was offered from 1960 through 1984.
In other related Toyota news, the Prius hybrid will gain “minor updates” for the 2014 model year, but additional details are not yet available.
