OK, this is really big if we are to believe what Toyota just said about unveiling a car that could possibly change the way auto industry looks. It will happen very soon and contrary to what everyone believes, it won’t happen at an auto show.
We know Toyota wants so erase its boring-car-maker image and the GT 68, FT-1 concept, iRoad and many other show it’s on the right path in doing so. And now comes this, a press release saying the automaker will break motor industry convention with a new RND Concept.
The thing won’t be revealed at one of the next international auto shows, but in the UK on 26th of January, which is next week. There’s also a teaser image included, although we can’t really put our fingers on what it represents. It could be the rear of the car or part of the dashboard or God knows what...
“Full details of the RND Concept will be announced next week, but ahead of the official unveiling I can say that this is something we are proud of and that will make a valuable contribution to the world we live in,” said Toyota GB president Matt Harrison.
All these makes us think the car will be manufactured in the UK at the Burnaston plant in Derbyshire alongside the Toyota Avensis sedan and Auris hatch. However, the car will probably have almost nothing to do with them.
Honestly, this is the first Toyota press release that managed to raise my heartbeat. What the hell are they planning? Guess, we’ll have to wait for more teasers or the official unveil next week. Stay tuned!
