Toyota is launching a slew of model at the Paris Motor Show, and we’ll start our coverage with the new Verso. We only have a single angle to show for this versatile new MPV, but the press release seems to suggest it’s not a completely new model, but a facelift.
Toyota calls the car you see as a “significantly revised version of the compact people carrier that showcases the company’s European design and engineering capabilities.”
The Verso is a 5-door estate car that was launched at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show as a successor to the Corolla Verso. In 2010, Euro NCAP called it the safest MPV they tested for that year.
For Europe, it’s built in Turkey and offered with two petrol engines (1.6L 132 hp and 1.8L 147 hp), plus two diesels, a 2.0L and a 2.2L.
Toyota today said that the Verso will ow come with a revised 2.0 D-4D that has been e-engineered to give stronger performance with lower CO2 emissions. The other major change is that the automaker has improved the driving dynamics and sound damping.
The styling is largely the same as the new Auris hatchback, featuring a V-shaped upper grille that joins the headlights at the side and splits in the middle to make room for the Toyota logo.
autoevolution will be attending the Paris Motor Show 2012, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
