Toyota has announced it has begun taking orders for the plug-in version of the Prius, which will see its final production form being revealed at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show tomorrow.
According to Automotive News, the car will be priced at JPY3.2 million in Japan (about $41,000 at the current exchange rate), which undercuts the Nissan Leaf by quite a bit.

The Prius plug-in is currently being tested by European companies before it gets the go-ahead to arrive on dealers’ lots there next summer.

autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
