Being one of the largest events of its kind, the Specialty Equipment Market Association show which will open in the beginning of November in Las Vegas is the place to be for all those manufacturers who want to show they can produce one-offs and limited versions of their otherwise blunt production models.

Toyota has souped up several cars for the event, including the Tacoma X-Runner RTR, where RTR stands for Ready to Race. The pick-up has been pretty much tweaked beyond recognition, with major enhancements being brought to the powertrain and undercarriage.

The vehicle packs an i-Force 5.7l V8 engine, boosted to 504 hp and 550 lb.-ft of torque by a TRD (Toyota Racing Development) Supercharger Kit. The unit is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission and TRD mechanical limited slip differential.

The pickup no longer has the same height as its road-going version, having been lowered 4.5 inches from stock X-Runner height. It rides on 15-inch styled steel wheels at the front (wrapped in Goodyear Eagle Front Runners ) and 10-inches at the rear, wrapped in Goodyear Eagle Dragway Specials.

Although the exterior of the Tacoma has been left pretty much untouched when it comes to its shape, the lowered ride, the paint scheme and other well placed graphics bring a unique Tacoma into the light.

The interior follows the same customization as the exterior, with fine touches like “504 HP” graphics and TRD logos. The interesting aspect of the interior is that the audio head unit, speakers, air conditioner, power windows, front fog lamps, windshield water bottle, and rear seats are no longer present, to give the pickup the much needed loss in weight.
