Trapped in a remote location again this holiday season? Bet you wish you had some sort of reliable monster truck to get you out of the snow. Something like the Toyota Tacoma Polar Expedition that set a world record in 2011 by reaching the South Pole in about 40 hours.
It might look familiar, but that’s because this pickup truck was on sale once before, in February this year. Can’t tell for sure if it didn’t found a new owner back then or the man now needs to make some quick cash out out it, but it’s here again, going under the hammer without reserve between January 14th - 18th, 2015, at Russo and Steele’s 15th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction.

As we were saying, this Tacoma has set the Guinness World Record for the fastest overland journey to the South Pole (700 miles/1,126 km starting from Patriot Hills, Antarctica), which was done in 1 day, 15 hours and 54 minutes. It cost $400,000 to build so expect to pay at least double the amount to get your hands on it.

The list of mods is pretty huge, with highlights like:
  • 330 Gallon Extended Range Fuel Tank
  • Metal Replaced w/ Military Grade Steel
  • Four OMP WRC XL Racing Seats
  • Garmin GPSmap 526 Navigation System
  • Garmin Nuvi Turn by Turn Navigation System
  • TRD Supercharger
  • 9 Ton Superwinch EPi 9.0 Winch
  • Dual VIAIR Air Compressors
  • Custom Interior Mounted Camera System
  • 44” Mickey Thompson Icepack Tires
  • Webasto Engine Heated
  • Up Rated Prop Shafts and Rear Differential
  • Insulated Cab w/ Roll Cage

Should you manage to acquire such piece of automotive history, you’ll also get the original Polar log notes for the entire journey, original drivers license for Antarctica, a list of all supplies taken on the trip, documentation for shipping the truck to the region, a Crisis Management Guide for the South Pole Expedition, high-res photos and other documentation to attest the vehicle’s glorious trip.
