Today is yet another day when we’re glad Akio Toyoda is at the helm of Toyota. Rumors of a successor to the legendary Supra have once again surfaced, and this time GT 86 chief engineer Tetsuya Tada has told Asia One his big boss has asked him to "make a successor to the Supra as soon as possible."
How long will it take for the car to be read? A lot: "The GT 86 needed five years to develop, so at least five years is required for the others."

The new Supra is believed to be more of a spiritual successor to the original, since it’s believed to a an all-wheel drive hybrid, much like the next Acura NSX.

Toyota’s GRMN Sports Hybrid Concept, shown last year in its second form, provides a glimpse about the setup. It used a 3.5-liter V6 engine to power the rear wheels and a single electric motor for the front wheels.

Toyota and BMW have already publicly announced they will be making a new sportscar together in the future. Could the Supra be it?
