Toyota Supra Blows Engine Racing BMW M6

The Toyota Supra is one legendary piece of engineering brilliance, known for its most reliable 2JZ engine that can really take a pounding. The internet is filled with 1,000 HP cars using that engine, cars that would blow your mind with their quarter mile times.

However, power and legendary reliability is nothing without a skilled driver. The guys from GTBoard.com got together a while back and raced some pretty interesting rides amongst which you could spot a Supra dubbed ‘Silversupra’ and a BMW E63 M6.

Now, racing the two is one rare event as both have legendary engines under the bonnet. As far as the M6 is concerned, the S85 ‘heart’ under the bonnet is one of the last true M engines made according to the die hard fans.

It was built using Formula 1 technology from the BMW Williams team of the early 2000s. The V10 5-liter unit used to rev up to an 8,300 RPM redline and provide all sorts of feeling up to that limiter.

Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly what the Supra had under the bonnet but soon after the drag race was on, a scary sound can be heard coming from under its bonnet and the driver immediately slowed down suggesting an engine problem. According to the video description, the engine ‘blew up’ but we really find that hard to believe. What do you think happened?
