Toyota Racing Team got struck by bad luck again. After qualifying for the third place, their only racecar on the track at the Six Hours of Sao Paulo crashed in the first hour of racing.
Driving the #8 Toyota TS030 Hybrid, Stephane Sarrazin got involved in an accident after just 25 laps, when #32 car lost control and hit him, sending the hybrid racer into the barrier, causing a lot of damage to the front and right of the car. Sarrazin bravely tried to manually remove damaged pieces of bodywork in order to make it to the pits but the vehicle was too damaged and had to be retired from the race.

“I am very disappointed for the team; I am very sorry. I was doing my race and I was lapping the LMP2 car in a normal place. He lost control of his car and crashed into me. What can I do? I did my very best to get the car back to the box but it was impossible. It’s a very bad day for us. I am so disappointed because we thought we would be part of a great fight today.” said Sarrazin.

The next round of the FIA World Endurance Championship takes place at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas on 22nd of September.
