There’s a lot of crazy stuff going on at the 2013 SEMA Show, but Toyota’s new SpongeBob Highlander SUV takes the cake. Or should we say it takes the canned fish award, as the unique vehicle is actually a fish tank on wheels.
According to Toyota, no less than “115 individual fish” swim in the 800-gallon tank that was designed by Animal Planet’s “Tanked” co-stars Wayde King and Brett Raymer. The custom tank begins behind the front seats, stretches the length of the vehicle and is populated by 32 species of fish, including a starfish - like the SpongeBob character.
It’s probably not the safest vehicle to be traveling in, but Toyota says the 2014 SpongeBob Highlander will also be displayed at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this year. Maybe Toyota should have a look at the video below and take the mobile fish tank to the Tokyo Motor Show. Just saying...
