Most of the western world has figured out the answer to an aging, overpaid workforce. It’s called letting emigrants into the country. But Japan, the eater of raw fish that it is, has found it wise to start developing robots to care for the elderly or do construction work.
But why not have a machine that spanks newborn babies. Surely, the world needs such a thing, and as cars go, they don’t get more newborn than the 2013 Toyota Auris hatchback. Oh Japan, you weird and wonderful place, you!
With the help of Nobumichi Tosa, an inventor of really strange musical instruments and the founder of Maywa Denki, the Auris has been turned into a musical instrument. Lots of robotic hands, making up the “Spanking Orchestra” tap on its body to create music. This was on display last week during the annual Daikanyama Art Street in Tokyo.
Recently, Toyota sparked outrage when it launched a TV commercial featuring a 19-year old androgynous model to promote the Auris’ uniqueness. What next for the car, coming out of a uterus at a Lady Gaga concert?
