Toyota Sending First Human-Robot in Space

Looks like WALL-E’s story isn’t that fictional as it appeared to be in the movie. Latest technology from Japan proves that robots can think for themselves.

Toyota is working on an experiment involving a first-ever human-robot conversation in space. The collaboration between RCAST and Robo Garage gave birth to the robot’s hardware, while Toyota contributed with the company’s latest voice-recognition software.

Their creation is called Kirobo and it is one of the two humanoid verbal-communication robots developed under the Kibo Robot Project. Kirobo will embark on transfer vehicle that will be launched on August 4th, sending the little robot on the International Space Station. There, it will wait for JAXA astronaut Koichi Wakata to arrive between November and December to have their conversation experiment.
