Toyota S-FR Racing Concept Previews Potential Race Car, Makes Us Dream

The Toyota S-FR Concept previewed a potential little brother for the GT86 Coupe. Although the little RWD coupe hasn't received confirmation for production, Toyota's designers keep developing various versions of this show car. The latest version is called the S-FR Racing Concept and it will be showcased at the 2015 Tokyo Auto Salon, Japan's equivalent to SEMA.

Obviously, the first thing that you notice about the new concept is the color of the body, which is now white. The roof of the car, along with the side pillars, has been painted gloss black.

Next, the S-FR received a generous fixed rear wing, also painted gloss black. Moreover, the new concept features a set of side skirts, a new set of bumpers with aggressive design, and new alloy wheels. Being a racing concept, the S-FR also receives center locks for its shiny black wheels, instead of a five-lug setup like a road car.

Toyota has yet to detail the S-FR Concept's powertrain. The car is rumored to feature a 1.2 liter, three-cylinder, turbocharged gasoline engine, expected to develop around 115 horsepower. Since the car weighs approximately 980 kilograms, the S-FR Concept should provide appropriate performance for its small size, despite the anemic horsepower figures.

The Racing version of the S-FR Concept is also a bit longer than the original concept, having an overall length of 4,100 millimeters instead of the standard version's 3,990 mm. Width has been increased as well, going from 1,695 millimeters to 1,735 mm, while the height has decreased from 1,320 mm to 1,270 mm. The (probably) nimble coupe has a wheelbase of 2,480 mm.

The Toyota S-FR Racing Concept was developed by the guys at Gazoo Racing, who have a broad experience in tuning Toyota designs for the track. If this car ever goes into production, it is expected to be sold in several markets, from Japan to Europe and even the US.

In over fourteen years, he got behind the wheel of several hundred vehicles and in the offices of the most important car publications in his homeland.
