The first Toyota FT-1 concept we saw screamed only one thing - track performance. Finished in a bright red shade, having a pointy nose, large air intakes and a fully black interior to aid the driver focus on the road. But now, let’s imagine how a more grand touring-themed FT-1 would be like.
Or even better, see it in these photos bellow as the new iteration concept has been unveiled at Pebble Beach.

Don’t worry though, that carefully studied design has’t been changed with extra or less features. In fact, it’s the same car, but the color theme used by the designers now totally made it more tamed. The most obvious change is the exterior color: the passionate red shade has been replaced by the only thing that can turn a Lamborghini into something less opulent on the street - gray.

Since we know there are at least “50 shades of gray”, the one used here is not your average Skoda Octavia shade but a very deep, metallic flaked color, which reminds of some noble materials, like graphite.

And since the other design elements like lip spoilers, winglets, skirts and rims, kept their sober dark finish, the new car has been actually dubbed the FT-1 Graphite Concept.

The interior was also chromatically changed. Whereas the first FT-1 had mostly dark high-tech performance materials reminding of today’s superhero costumes, the new one hints a bit towards luxury using natural leather accents on the seats, perfectly matched by brown finished trimmings here and there.

It’s still sporty as hell, with that slingshot-design cockpit and edgy shaped seats with metallic backbones, but the whole new color setup adds a luxury twist, which is nice, since not everyone likes all-black setups.

All in all, we can’t wait to see how the production version of the FT-1 concept, namely the next Toyota Supra, will look like. If you ask us, we hope it will retain as much as the current design as possible, just like the Lexus NX did, and come with a hell-spawned hybrid powertrain inspired by the Toyota TS040 Le Mans racer.

We bet some of you want to take this for a ride as well. But unless you are a close friend with those from Toyota or Calty Design, we’ll let you know that the new FT-1 Graphite will be available to download in the Gran Turismo 6 racing game starting this September. And if that wasn’t enough, the FT-1 Vision GT (which is basically the full berserk version of the FT-1, with widebody kit, ultra-low racing suspension and all other racing feats) will join the virtual party at the same time.
