Nothing to panic about folks, your FJ Cruiser headlights won’t let you down in a murky night on a spooky forrest. In fact, the “problem” is that they make too much light for the law to accept it.
The recall refers to FJ Cruisers built between January 25th 2006 and February 23rd 2013, which are fitted with Toyota’s Auxiliary Driving Lamp Kits to aid it in nigh-time off-road sessions.

The 55 Watt bulbs used for the auxiliary light system used together with the standard high beam will generate an intensity that will exceed the maximum limit allowed. This may lead to temporarily blinded oncoming drivers and higher risks of accident.

Toyota will schedule the recall for later this month, consisting of a lightbulb change from 55 to 35 Watt, free of charge by local dealers. If you are the owner of such an “affected” Toyota FJ Cruiser, you can find more details by calling 1-800-331-4331.
