Toyota Recall Over Possible Brake Booster Problem

Don’t worry, your Toyota/Lexus wont let you brakeless out of the blue sky while driving on the highway. The problem may occur on a braking subassembly that lessens brake pedal effort.

The recall involves about 87,000 US spec Toyota Prius and Lexus HS 250h made in 2010 and over 155,000 Prius models around the world, on which the automaker discovered that the brake pressure accumulator may develop a fatigue crack on an internal part caused by vibrations.

As its name suggests, this contraption’s role is to accumulate pressure in a small reservoir in order to release it when the brake pedal is pushed, allowing the driver to make a smaller effort.

Owners of the aforementioned vehicles will be announced via mail, following to take their cars to the closest dealer to be checked. If the vehicles are equipped with such faulty accumulator, the dealer will change it with an improved one for no cost.
