Toyota Rebadges Prius V as Daihatsu Mebius

Japanese carmaker Daihatsu has announced a bran new hybrid van has been added to their model range. Problem is, it's not brand new, it's the Toyota Prius V in disguise.

Other than a few cosmetic changes which are very minor in nature, this is just you run of the mill Toyota hybrid. As far as the powertrain is concerned, it's still made up of a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine running on the Atkinson cycle and producing 99 hp on its own, and helped by an electric motor to offered a combined 136 hp.

The Daihatsu Mebius is available only with five seats, which means it has a cavernous cargo space that ca swallow 535 litters with the rear seats up and 1,070 liters with them folded down.

Prices start at JPY2,350,000 ($23,730) for the basic S"L model and ca go up to JPY2,800,000. If you'd like to know more, check out the official brochure attached below.
