After returning to the World Endurance Championship, Toyota has now plans to start racing again in the World Rally Championship, a segment in which it dominated throughout the 1980s and ‘90s. Don’t remember those Castrol Toyota rally cars? Let’s take a look at them once again.
Photographer G.F. Williams recently was invited to see that special place where Toyota Motorsport (TMG) keeps the finest examples from its 25 years of rallying.

The collection includes the legendary Celica TA64 that raced in the era of super-powerful Group B rallies, along with successive versions of the Celica GT4, the automaker’s first all-wheel drive rally car and the car that took Carlos Sainz to victory in 1990.

Before retiring from the world of rallying, Toyota used these fine Corolla WRC models and even built an MR2-based Group S concept that never saw the gravel.

TMG LeMans cars along with other functional classic Toyota rally cars can be seen in action this summer at the special stage of Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Toyota returned to Le Mans and the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2012 with the TS030 Hybrid, a car which showcased how advanced hybrid power technology can successfully be applied to the highest levels of international motorsport. In two seasons of racing it garnered five pole positions and 10 podium finishes, including five race victories.
