HD Radio developer iBiquity Digital Corporation has just announced the 2014 Toyota Tundra, Sequoia, 4Runner, Tacoma and Corolla models are the first to be launched with integrated audio and real-time traffic/weather informations using Clear Channel’s Total Traffic HD Network (TTN) and HD Radio Technology.
"Toyota is proud of our partnership with iBiquity and Clear Channel to provide consumers with subscription free traffic and weather information via HD Radio broadcast on our next generation Entune systems. With Entune App Suite enabled systems, we are also the first to offer consumers 'hybrid data' technology that automatically switches to provide traffic and weather information over the internet via cell phone when a customer travels out of HD Radio broadcast range. We couldn't be more thrilled to be able to offer consumers these subscription free services along with our industry leading 'hybrid data' capability." said vice president and product planning at Toyota USA Sandy Lobenstein.

Vehicles coming with integrated navigation will have a digital audio and sat nav system driven by the first kind of this new technology, making it capable of receiving informations from both HD Radio stations and driver’s smartphone.

For vehicles without navigation, Toyota will offer a premium display audio system that will receive free traffic maps and weather informations just through HD Radio stations.

The HD Radio technology delivers crystal-clear sound quality along with the capability of offering additional information on the infotainment system’s screen - like weather and current-playing song/artist name.
